International Business Studies Summer Program Assistant

The University of Alberta - Centre for International Business Studies is
currently recruiting for the position of Summer Program Assistant - Job

Salary to be paid will be $14.00 per hour (includes vacation pay, stat
pay, student premium, and second language augmentation)
. F1 F  X5 s' v0 R+ S1 k9 o- ^
9 t& }6 ^! }5 G- wHours per week will be 20 - 30 - 20 during the first few weeks, then 30
  ~: k5 F% E5 f& h# J- K- 35 per week during the busy period. There may be an opportunity for
$ d# G$ Z' h" r5 Y5 othe student to stay on a casual basis (10 - 20 hours per week) once the
3 a* s( q9 T6 u) Gschool year starts.

Duties include: preparing for programs by working with current staff at
CIBS to secure and schedule various program requirements (off-campus
venues, tour agents, goods and services, program materials and supplies,
etc.); reproducing and distributing documents and correspondence for
participants, assisting to orient participants to the University and
their program on their arrival, and trouble-shooting for them during
their program; booking program venues, setting up for sessions,
& u; X4 Z6 F% P$ `, Q% }, Z' sassisting visiting speakers or invited session presenters, striking
  ?- \/ K% J- u8 Dvenue at end of session; traveling as guide with groups on in-city
- i9 g( ^- z/ b/ @8 Doutings or site visits, or, occasionally, on overnight out-of-city
excursions (does not involve driving or overnight week night
excursions); interpreting (non-technical exchanges) at meetings or
- w9 B* `( {( g4 x  F* S. Lfunctions; translating, revising or drafting program-related documents
- Z8 g9 S; a9 F& S1 tsuch as schedules, itineraries, notices, correspondence, PowerPoint
' }9 |' M9 \* x# |% i5 O5 [presentations, program binders, evaluation forms, etc.

2 R+ Q5 g* L: M  Z& GQualifications include: senior undergrad student; coursework in
Commerce, Education or Economics preferred, ability to communicate
4 r9 ]# _- B4 V+ R3 H/ m+ X! Jfluently (oral and written) in English and Mandarin Chinese,
demonstrates a high-level of self organization, initiative to undertake
a variety of tasks; ability to coordinate individual efforts with those
1 \3 a0 Z/ S7 o$ h2 {of co-workers, excellent interpersonal organization and time-management
7 d' g: \5 d  H" D3 F6 _" Oskills; accuracy to detail; working knowledge of MS applications (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); administrative experience an asset,
3 y# F$ H  {3 g" A9 Jexperience coordinating group activities an asset.
