The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.

Salary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.

( N$ _3 q4 T, n& Q" cDuties include: working closely with graduate students and research
; r4 G: a5 c% h# `) w  R( p' {# xtechnicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
for use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
) `) x; w3 ?, ^' R3 k; E: }" ninclude carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
3 v; t+ R2 {7 I1 A7 {1 W; j6 scompounds by chromatography.

5 s" k- B& F3 _# U4 b8 y$ SQualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
5 M8 {3 e5 v0 }  }; YChemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
6 c1 J/ U3 {8 lanalytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
separations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
) v& H. f, q* hof a team essential.
This position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
and chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
hope to work in these areas.
