Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.! {- e! L: G+ E1 h+ f
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.4 m& Q# t8 J# T% \) ~5 r* @$ ]7 i! \
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.7 f. Z& E5 S( u( M7 w( u
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.
& Q+ v' F& F0 w0 JChang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
