Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me: 2 j8 U6 Y6 U& { f" D( {
"I am going to send it back".
8 ]- S; z- h% y# Q# v9 |I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:
3 N7 }) f) _9 y "I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
4 v( V! G; P) i; J2 J$ J2 eHe said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage."
' J9 h& x( E# Q' b6 ?0 `# J5 k% y"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?"
' b! N- [6 `; V! s3 u6 u& k"Yes, I did."
# { s& @! K. i8 P7 D3 H. N, z& TFinally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post.
0 n# j) }) Q7 g5 z' H# pHe took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. ; E1 ?9 G2 ]$ N6 J2 H, R9 b0 X9 q
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"1 Z2 P! z j/ ~/ ^
"No, I am not. I do not do those things."( C+ ~# L- d& Q6 i8 K, p K
He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside.
7 y$ S& ]9 {. D3 m' v. PI gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:
9 g7 a/ R! U' y" ~7 U1 P3 w"Is it okay that I do not write this part?"
5 ^4 f5 b+ A7 H% `9 |5 `- h/ q"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:

I was surprised: "oh, where do you live?") I. l2 O$ T% `% y4 Q# x3 t
He did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."
/ M' ]" J! q( x+ s% j! i# m. ~My heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it. ; b1 ^) d. q7 Q: I" T- P; ]
He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity.
