Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me:
& } n0 F6 f3 M/ s"I am going to send it back". 4 _% a0 X0 [- f! V4 R: p
I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:
' B" J; b9 n8 G7 i2 |+ x7 \! N "I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
; m4 j0 {% p! S0 `3 V8 ~He said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage."
& C) O3 Q$ }# v9 n* Y; m"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?" 1 E% |- j6 N! b$ H2 m
"Yes, I did."9 }' `9 ?( f+ _# T
Finally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post.
2 S6 _0 K' P" `2 V; A2 pHe took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet.
: C, c( u+ K2 p% P0 I0 f. u8 t/ D/ ["Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"6 r$ g7 @+ t# o
"No, I am not. I do not do those things."# V& V2 V. r! z4 p6 z! `! T
He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside.
, H# i6 T1 |6 r% j4 W- K. ~I gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:

' q% w) q! c' u8 O$ N: X( U' R"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:

% m: y) u& O- b/ {/ C' hI was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"
) U; s6 a; S- k6 P4 Q6 RHe did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."
: f& b" e' B0 c3 V0 b7 ?My heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it. & F" w5 x5 m: ~& y+ O
He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity. % P, N9 |7 l q1 \
