中国同学遇见老外,想知道人家的姓是怎么拼的,经常脱口而出:
, G9 g N6 G( B7 g, K+ J! [* M
- m( Z* O0 ~1 IHow to spell your last name?& e: e& M: K7 n* B" J6 j1 r
+ r3 y0 s! h' | G; O. z: @* J* M其实这种错误不光是中国同学特有的。亚非拉的同学很多都这么说。从语法的角度说,how to spell your last name ... : }, ]+ y# T* n! ?
& V$ W6 d9 N+ s! ?- l
"how to..." is a phrase. Therefore it can't be used as a sentence like " How do you...; Since it is a phrase, it can be used as TITLE--you can use a word, a phrase or a sentence as a title. Same reason "how to..." can also be used as part of a sentence: " I am not sure how to spell your first name."& V; `! C9 |5 o/ i* U

"Long time no see" is from old English.

4 ]- L2 ^! S! \"No problem" is short form for " I have no problem..." "There is no problem ..." so when used in answering something, it is simply expressed as "No problem". |
