　　North country scene:

) U6 i0 ^2 ]* t& G' a3 G　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　Both sides of the Great Wall

) _& Q+ F, p# t+ `* z5 A# S8 D' U　　One single white immensity.

8 X: h5 i; F( Y% }, |. N( m) Q; z　　The Yellow River"s swift current
0 f1 M3 @: Z9 a/ P# f  h
　　Is stilled from end to end.

4 r7 _) h$ [7 ?　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

6 J# K1 t6 O" K8 I3 @　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

　　Vying with heaven in stature.

　　On a fine day, the land,

　　Clad in white, adorned in red,
4 Y6 I( _5 }" k/ R
# x2 |* r1 t2 _" g" Z　　Grows more enchanting.

　　This land so rich in beauty

% N& }% g" X3 `+ M5 E2 a) d, c　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

, V) u: s" s! ]. Z  I; g/ w　　Were lacking in literary grace,
) q% ~5 a) ^0 I0 `3 ~
　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

  d3 D( G& O( \' ?/ K! f+ O　　Had little poetry in their souls;
: y4 t5 @4 `6 v- z4 s9 v　　And Genghis Khan,
  Q% c3 c: t/ N
　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

8 J2 C! `7 X1 v1 w) G# S( F. h; ?1 W4 ?　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

: g% R2 d# L. ?* u　　All are past and gone!

　　须晴日 看红装素裹 分外妖娆

　　江山如此多妖 引无数英雄竞折腰 惜秦皇汉武 略输文采
