within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color; w0 l6 f0 ^8 C; r1 X) A# I
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
; j- Z0 E( n& g5 W1 C4 H: min low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800

without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography

image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,/ |/ R6 Z8 O# k. f/ ^
thanks to the D800.
, ~# o. {9 q* ^When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
8 q1 w/ B! X$ m& @9 B! e36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic+ L/ T& N! T7 `2 m4 w2 [0 r
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
) |) [% g9 k: q* ^: u$ z3 Hthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a0 u$ K8 @$ ^4 s& S% k& q
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as* j V$ B$ }) @1 J
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
+ x7 L4 m; y+ S6 v2 n$ wAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor3 y7 z# O$ w' o6 e/ p" g% }
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is( H5 S; k+ t/ x$ F1 Y' \8 S/ t7 \
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
4 F" g4 w p( J( E6 m+ {, f7 J% oalso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
" R. a' t/ _% j5 e! ~8 gcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
* H& h7 e1 `4 k. y7 P: A3 j+ q/ yin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality! P* G; |& U k E; o
prints and video.
/ h( c p% m3 \2 y- M3 H, K3 @ C3 aTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
3 l1 g2 k* Z% v/ C1 k5 Lnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models5 e: a6 L' T$ V! { R
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
; Q( r1 x2 b: ?' Bcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
' n1 n9 w* \9 |+ Z2 S1 P" Psight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
! i; c6 n( G# P, O+ S Q0 llike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of$ Y! U! `' Y7 ?! f- c8 K
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I' A1 p2 l0 C% m/ m; N
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
1 O$ t4 ^5 A. uthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse( [. R$ v, g% I
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
. w9 T4 W" ^$ dtremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
* J- U7 }+ {* B. T- B Z- ~D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
' X: w8 u- V5 Q5 {is that now I will think differently about the images I make.6 O, ]6 c+ Z* d! O% V! q% o
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,( J& S" C! `- c4 R* ~! b
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
2 h; @+ X* ~4 W- Q V/ ~artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for$ e0 o' l- b! F4 D6 |0 [2 ]8 c
the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital

now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions

quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for2 w ]: M; Q# I: @
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
2 E: E' d* k4 iperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
9 i0 P' Q5 ?2 ~0 ^. @! sclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
, R% L$ D' _, {& k, D# }to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
) h3 F5 b- T* ?range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
