Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3# y! _' y! R7 m. I. W4 p: @9 G% h
megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
3 W, {$ y P& e; B1 y# G- K9 ywithin a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color% a( G) f8 }. {
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance; _0 [7 ]' P ^- z
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800* x; {. X! q8 h- l, j
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject. c4 } T' j/ R% k* s) G. N
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
+ W C$ }! I$ S6 @was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
& b( m+ B0 @0 R* oimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was2 ^% s$ M' I/ L% Q4 G& k- G
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
& e6 y' I: u) y2 p; { q6 l$ {convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
9 m h$ R+ s% j6 I: {* i; F4 M: [5 Xbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,4 [ s- S; g. \& F1 R: x
thanks to the D800.
& L2 K$ ]' O' I4 p! P" aWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,' T2 B# `/ p. W
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic- `4 A7 l7 q- K* Y
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces$ u" g; g( T# v ^ s- r) U5 m* _
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
. E* C' m" q$ H) ND-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
; l1 Y5 z' v2 K) P* xhas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is! D& V$ p. W) X4 b$ S5 P8 A
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while5 J* @" {2 \$ K- E% A& o
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New# j7 X) B* B2 t- ?6 j
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features4 ~' x3 n0 t; a
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is# N3 O+ I& b7 _
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models2 `- v a: i7 c. z
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using0 j& E% l* K9 W! R$ {3 k
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first7 u* D% R' B$ l$ P* _7 R8 [: q
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws G# K3 w1 {8 c0 z* n
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
0 u- G c* v+ z4 iacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I% ^5 G% X" R- k" q" k
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
4 b% }. j; g3 Z: l. S# X$ bthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse3 _8 k+ P' `3 ^0 ]2 h
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
2 w5 f. u5 C6 d5 [4 Ktremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the/ W; T3 `' y& g0 B% Y; _3 e
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for

and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior+ j f2 I4 X2 N
quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for r) @/ L2 l4 U
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they4 i! Q% u- C+ W2 d$ \( G
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly( q) w% x W0 p6 r$ N! Y0 U m. [& `) L
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
8 m# p* O: U: yto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional! w9 R% Q1 Q( ~2 n7 }/ S, l
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality* n, {0 O, i' r4 y6 q7 D2 O
