想买堆肥(compost)的同志进来

从今日起(5.15), 爱城废物管理中心( EDMONTON WASTE MANAGEMENT CENTER)开始卖堆肥. 2块钱40磅. 需要自己开车去装袋.

地址13111Meridian st.(216 highway 朝北一直开就到了)
堆肥是一种非常好的自然肥料. 这个中心卖的堆肥来自市民家里的有机废物:包括割下的枝条,草坪,其它家庭有机物等等.
对于室外的果园和花园一般来说每十五厘米深可加2厘米的堆肥.每5年加一次.
堆肥还可以作为草坪的肥料,直接撒在草坪上,然后浇水.

今天我们去抗了7袋回来, 跟地里的土混在一起, 土质也有了很大改观.

要去赶早啊, 去年7月前就都卖光了.今天头天开张就源源不断的有车开进来装.
还是减肥好运动, 去的时候穿脏衣服脏鞋去, 跟你加老公甩开膀子装, 顶得上去一趟gym呢.

no. but if you have a shovel, bring it with you. They do offer shovels, but just in case there are too many people, you can use your own.
It's indeed a very good deal. Their compost was awarded grade-A quality. And most important, it's local product, it is from the people and it's serving the peopl.

Thanks for the information.

You sound like you have lot of experience in gardening. May I ask one more question? I Have already planted the seeds in the garden and the flowers are already in the bed. Therefore I can not mix the earth with compost anymore. Is there other ways to apply the compost without disturbing the plants and flowers?

You can always dig them out even if they are germinated or they've always been there for a while. Just handle with care and make sure that the roots are not dried out.
Use a small shovel to dig them, make sure that you go deep enough to not hurt the roots. Then put the plants in a cool and shady place, can cover the roots with some soil, or just put the plants into water.
But you want to know first if your garden needs compost before you put yourself into so much trouble. If the soil’s always been very well maintained, and the yield results are always satisfying, you may just do it next year or later. If you do want to improve it this year and do not want to go through all these troubles, this is a trick: just top dress the compost on soil, and water in. In doing so you will not get the most ideal result, but the nutrients can still go down into the soil and it’s gonna benefit your plants.

I think I will go with the last method you introduced. I think it will work. It is similar to the chinese traditional method when pasents lay the organic fertilizer in the crops fields. And it is the simplest.

联系电话应该不会变吧, 是废物管理中心的电话.

抱歉我没有草地变菜园的实际经验.

但是我想种菜种花都一样, 土质很重要. 你把草皮起起来后,看看土质如何. 抓一把土捏一下, 捏不成型的是沙质土, 捏成固定形状的是粘质土, 稍微成型又不散的最合适. 沙质土可以添加沃土, 粘质土添加沙和perlite改进.
不管什么土都能加compost.

compost是有机物降解后的产品, 有的用动物和植物降解(包括动物粪便),有的只用植物.
动物粪便(manure)只有动物成分.
两者都是很好的肥料, . 区别可能在于可以为土壤添加的营养成分和对土质改良的效果. 比如只用植物降解的compost含膦量就不如manure高. 但compost对改良土质比manure 有效.
我知道的非常有限, 请康师傅和其他专家补充.

草地太老了，好多 quake grass 没法消除。去年秋天用药把所有草都杀了，从来。
