# B7 z' B: c1 ` D5 D• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed' e* V5 J5 h1 w0 N
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components& d/ z8 p7 _0 P' r
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
9 U8 v* ~2 K8 n( U• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams4 p+ W& ~, P+ [5 U; d, N
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
. u5 D" M3 H# m, E) M; i: F# }* o• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment1 I) p5 Y' X1 d/ q1 G
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools5 g: Z% T/ X) S! W8 v$ P
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting! N- G0 c# r5 w( }, E) E( T `+ S$ J7 P9 |
• Mix paint, blend and match colors
1 q! n" Y m: P, E$ g9 q4 B• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns0 p, F( n. b) |: ~) ]. j
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
* W- B4 z! [8 B( B• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation9 x& i, x% Y# y0 j, }1 B
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling' L3 Y9 q- [# l( V* W# p& E H7 e
Education and Experience Requirements:
! H; `& |5 o7 N8 ]3 `& t5 I• Completion of secondary school is required
- u9 K! g, h+ X8 V. |• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program * U* ]" a/ j, x; M! a3 m
or
" B" M) F+ c8 i% aA combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
6 ~' P2 x4 l5 q6 ~/ U) g' {• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
