' r' E9 s! T' |& XYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
7 \3 a: {3 a5 C. {: `+ ~0 F2 wnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
6 y2 n! b2 w/ K6 U( V5 |9 QThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
$ V' u; o3 ]- jemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
/ v2 q1 |0 s- d  [$ E; iThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
6 N" V7 f" @( k+ w; Y- a  ^participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
. R. W6 `" h3 ]: Z$ Vpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
( S; B1 d  Z3 g9 H! O9 @! AAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

: I4 h% U: Z2 J. P9 B' U9 KVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
