In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.2 e! {$ F, H$ ^; n" G! {

SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada.
. P& n# F7 _( |6 w9 Q; s- pSEDI is staffed to: ) C3 a) w$ ?1 V( {+ j; q
• conduct socio-economic market and policy research $ z0 E) ^ f* ]+ a7 O" x
• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
7 i8 y0 k2 o O9 u" P5 i% r• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation # q' M: D$ Y/ |; p6 Z; Z
• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs ' b( B2 V! q# z( ^, B
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits 1 b/ s% O! ~5 V0 B1 n% h9 g- b
• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses ! L0 }# f8 r- G! N% }
• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada
2 e" W* P" \0 C vPrimary Responsibilities and Activities:
~3 T A2 a; k! H' b• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada
8 }/ U8 V2 I# ~1 `- i; H• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc)
/ I/ N) _9 J+ v) N4 \) h• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required
8 k8 m4 @+ f' G( ^+ k) ?) u3 o• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities
. e, j- }- v$ g) T+ _! G. K4 t• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
! v) I" M6 Q: q* _( [) i. r• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required

: M' Y1 u& w2 G9 Q6 v$ |) L O2 @• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies
8 w5 r4 ~) P; v& y; }8 e, [• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners
7 D5 P5 C# a- @1 f! W1 h• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting 5 [2 l: m7 E3 U/ q% H; `, X( ]1 \
• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports u/ A* O: J0 m* n
• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning
& j! u, K, ^3 D/ y. N3 T& b1 g) tPrimary Qualifications:
$ k) _% f' _$ ?• Demonstrated group facilitation experience
+ E$ h- u& g9 |; _# o5 C0 d7 z• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
+ m$ P% I; W6 V; O' V• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training 7 \* b2 g( f3 ]+ ~: f$ \
• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities , }8 C/ \. m$ U+ z9 s
• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams ! |0 t1 e4 u/ l. {; r7 r2 @
• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals 1 r; J+ c) b, {4 j8 b
• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts 2 H3 f" i3 ^2 R% Z4 u
• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them 1 l: x" l9 z( z' B4 _3 {# H: b
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc 4 K0 s6 F! b4 V: ?" W' g
• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education

• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners

• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc. # Q# w) d( J1 v5 n$ k* n
• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset - l8 m2 `, T1 q& U I
• Policy research skill set is an asset
