Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
' c3 f* {: }# Y4 g- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
- I3 }  _# D* d  O. }3 c-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
) H  t5 f7 |  c# C- provide support to ISP staff
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
9 q; f( |9 e' q2 `( B; t- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
' J: G4 t2 E. h' p, p- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
0 U- r8 m: ]: V7 J0 p% j- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
0 l# F  d$ i9 N5 V& N0 f- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
4 W2 a. [7 v  O- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

Qualifications
. C7 Y$ }* Y9 R2 `' Z- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
: g* W7 y) |/ {: D- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
% M8 p- M' r2 p+ |2 M8 h& e: s; q6 M- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills

- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
