Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
/ m5 U( M; D- {1 W; T- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
3 s6 A& f! B1 z/ S$ v7 k-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
# W8 R9 `8 x: z, R4 x& O- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
7 }) W. I, Z, O1 L8 p2 L% ]  V8 R( ^- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
9 F% f2 z# v  ?- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
2 a) f' W8 T: x) Q- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

/ T/ M% a# |. y& r" b8 x: C- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
& u( `& Q5 r: e- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
; P. x) x5 W, y) e$ A0 `- good interpersonal and people skills
; @5 l% v8 b+ R  m6 N: w6 V4 e- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Salary
- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
