Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
8 ]; E' \/ B* c2 K) b Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
0 z; n9 L  e- ?: @' w  l Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
/ o( C/ E3 K! s6 U Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
, Z% V7 k" Y: Z3 b  X Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
/ Q9 J- R1 B9 N' i  W- |  G9 y9 x4 O Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
) t, r% E- `& W/ W# p8 @ Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

4 D+ l- m+ u  b, i8 {Qualifications:

: j! I. U, X+ \' A: ?2 G Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
: r+ q  l& i  g. X Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
& V, L* G  a, k! D5 T Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
! u, L6 q7 ]) j5 i1 x8 `  u# C( R Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
2 W  V- w( r* K+ ~& J Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

1 B- w3 I2 ^8 o2 N6 @" w( m! i7 w& e; hPosition:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
