As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

6 V5 A" U" A  rDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

' d( E& s. ]' P* [• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
. Z0 X- Z! m6 Q8 Y8 x) Z• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
  q# T! Z* Q2 U2 c( ]• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
' q8 V4 L) e2 S. z: @• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
  g6 D0 o3 a$ G: B: f( R( b! K3 `• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
# g+ X. n  t5 B' K8 g• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

) `3 Z% Z5 M! m. r- a" w' pSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
0 p7 l. V) Y& t+ Z9 R) S. q• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
7 H; C) C( o$ E4 s• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
/ c6 s+ \2 e  |/ ^• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
7 _2 j8 {( _( q- G# h2 [• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
3 H" @# e6 L6 Z1 z# `, ^) X; X• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
  V% t1 p  ~% i: C3 [• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
