FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

- Z9 N0 y& k8 D: ?• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
& y6 c/ X! S7 O! v7 H' A• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
% L( y8 w, s  c/ T+ G• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
# V; [  g0 N) X! a7 r4 a" n5 J  V9 B• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
6 v* A& I: e$ q: e% G• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
( b7 t4 K$ [( C& d* }• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
. y0 ^6 b1 _+ B2 D• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
+ {' q0 w0 w: s• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
- M  \6 d& e0 U• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
5 m/ p8 P# ]1 q& X1 F; d; u- y& `• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
