As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
' G: v- q0 t, W' v) F& M# J  C& GEnterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
7 h1 ]' |0 G$ R% ]% |• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
/ q- D4 h# O) M, u! dBi /Reporting/ETL
# K2 b8 u0 F: C• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
! N# z/ H+ n+ B% k* f! B1 A• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
! a1 L* y( W1 r7 i8 |7 a• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
8 Q6 A! c; Y: g. Z# d* v• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
& [6 m: u. z3 v0 `8 [, \• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
( U9 K+ c8 ^/ g& _) R- b8 `! b• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
" X3 H, x/ ^$ }7 V! T4 K• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
4 }7 C" f1 S% F# m+ |" H  J• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
8 M. C# @, |+ `6 V6 a• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
8 B; `7 u$ B1 Y6 R% B7 I: p% m3 {• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
