As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
+ M& {" y( y/ ~7 r• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
) r) X! B- K! F( b* v/ g• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
: D% Y9 O* \* P! X& G! t• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
/ t6 U' @- y6 o6 v2 q) ]% j+ bBi /Reporting/ETL
! d1 o! c5 B0 k• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
  B8 o% w- F- [3 `2 g( L8 R• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

. t4 ^; r" y8 r; p; g3 oSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
+ K" d& k1 u$ |• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
! g1 J' ]: ^1 A& p( j• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
' c# U7 B% b# C! n! }( J: x$ r• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
  w% K3 S5 K, b' z1 h• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
% ~/ S3 v' A$ D8 |• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
4 H) N: o' ^# F# N6 N• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
% E4 E2 g7 p( G! i( u2 c1 f: t• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
8 Q8 A' e5 n! D• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
