: E% H. z' m, z5 u Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or 9 a' i" V x, z: ]6 W, Z1 T3 J
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to 5 u9 {# @; S2 g
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. ! ^5 v; S* Q) g# o4 r' Q
0 G" s8 |. L$ k: G4 x5 S* d1 m Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
* Z9 H# y" Z: r( i8 gThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, " ?2 v* v% j+ a2 e
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social 6 j. I/ ?7 S3 z# D9 s
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as U# F# c! q3 Z5 ]; o
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for : ]# x) ^3 u! k4 M( g
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
' i, s! K a c2 ^3 S4 x9 n& Z5 Passessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

Qualification
9 v8 W, g& x) X: } - j; F( Y" w& p' r) A+ I3 y' R1 v
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and , Y/ y1 B0 }2 R
experience in Social Work or related human service fields. 3 a, [# R+ [9 _0 F( G
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family / R! q# H% W M7 _# ]
support needs
! [1 D0 }* r. M( K% b( i Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications . t; i3 h2 I: m0 K+ x/ ?
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages ) Y# M9 t& ?5 @
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate * T8 ~$ O( h4 s
insurance coverage for work

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field ) ^$ V2 k. @* J4 m7 F
