Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or

The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
A0 g2 S# q H3 T, bnewcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
8 o1 ]. j4 `3 w$ ^5 T1 QWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
; _* T9 Z0 a# C7 K7 Q4 Nneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
0 d2 J* c/ O4 ~' k! y9 dnewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
) S8 S* B5 w6 A" r* V+ s2 G$ jassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Key Accountability

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served.

Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support 8 n J9 \% h3 ^& M/ H
newcomers in settling and fully participating in community. / ?5 |1 j/ Z# E8 Y
Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

Qualification
! B' `2 c. U6 F7 j+ B z0 ~! p8 ?. H 6 u# Q" s2 [% Z' s
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and , M* ]" G4 w! Z# J1 n# |1 |' [
experience in Social Work or related human service fields.
% H, }- m& [9 Q5 H Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family : u/ d$ ]8 I8 O7 H' s/ y$ E) b; W6 m
support needs % F4 E( j! v2 g" j( x9 X
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
3 F3 L0 @9 l& I; F9 | Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
