因为发音不对，很多时候在写作是也会把cannot误写成can not。

can't 用于口语中，比如 I can't go to school because I'm sick.
) v4 C$ |$ L' w  D' F! t! q% Scannot 用于正式的书面表达，比如在托福考试中，can't这种写法一定是错的。
. o: y8 `+ Z. A; I: E  \只能用正式的语言。相同的还有 does not, I am, they are ,there is, it is and so forth.
" H6 a2 G: P" s) h在有些作文里，用 so on 或是 so forth 也是不被接受的。这要看阅卷人的喜好了。有些老师要求你举出实际的3个例子或是你知道的几种例子，so on 或 so forth 不够具体。比如：  
I like doing sports such as jogging, swimming, horseriding, and kayaking. （正确）
I like doing sports such as jogging, swimming, horseriding, kayaking and so on.(不太合乎英语的表达方式）至少是在正式的写作时。

这是一个formal和informal 的问题， 口语上可以用什么都可以， 但是essay里面要用cannot， 现在的word里会直接改正can not， 所以说不用担心拼写的问题
