In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
1 p6 I9 L3 v% M+ _3 k+ W8 F6 JPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. " ^5 A8 z" N0 ^ w
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
2 k( b3 T- c6 N7 ^3 v% x: xOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ( A6 ]/ l9 F4 s0 y! ]' B
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
) a( d( c) K. S" [Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 5 C5 a1 K* x/ B: L3 z# @+ n: n0 J3 P9 n
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 0 u" i8 H! o0 }$ U7 @$ T5 D; [
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. - Y: I- j$ O1 K* L0 q3 V8 s/ [( V
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
7 i0 a9 F9 P" JEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. ! V) b% J% k9 K& V/ j# b
Qualifications 2 s; V3 j+ c& H* G) f
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. - o+ Q. g* a* i. u
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
% M5 G2 u6 _3 |; dPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
B( j! V0 ]4 c" i' i4 H9 p7 DPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 7 a3 q$ T$ {8 q7 ?7 F/ T; l( z, ~
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
' N Z* a; l1 |8 l( xProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
