In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
g* ^! W9 a B* s) W: ZPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
9 Y" ]& p0 ?8 M) a' O% jAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
+ W3 u" \* ]. G aOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
, K7 o. ^/ D+ p; O. B% Z! O, @Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. + M+ o) p; A& Y; ~% n1 X# t5 q0 k" b1 ^
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. ; z, W% ~$ i8 L8 e& U4 R/ I
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
9 `0 w/ ~$ a6 \' d6 J) A. {, ]Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
" A, q8 l0 ^- s, R& JDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. : Y$ F" ~' J6 x" s
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. # R; M% l8 ^) U/ ` K7 M
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
5 D8 r7 {- J! g: j* k sEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
; i6 Y$ n, N# e, _" z g6 p1 YQualifications . P+ U8 ~4 }; D% d# i
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
- o( [1 y% C4 |! M" e+ A8 R( ZPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
. {3 ?: U! k+ h! ~( g1 j& ]Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. A5 Y; ]9 T j. O6 [
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. A. J3 B8 |3 R' W6 y# c0 ^, R7 P" e
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. & ]0 y$ p) V7 a% Z
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. - E6 O. X5 d( Y# e" q8 Y
