24 HOURS OVER 4 MONTHS- c- a" X. a; v) v% q z
This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
7 I8 i3 }. I6 c) S3 B2 [3 P- e1 X- sEligibility Criteria/ q: G/ l& f: z N. Q
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
1 \! j, M- n! d- m) ?: y•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less2 p/ y2 X% s1 Q, [+ j, k1 K
•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
4 D8 M( f1 L. d2 i$ ~8 f8 @•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English0 S! m% t# M% t
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada 1 K8 S8 X" `! [% V& _( U. P# p1 J
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field
4 N0 z) ?5 \, T U•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
6 T* P _+ \) B•Be eligible to work in Canada0 f6 w, Y! w) O# y
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop/ [1 j4 G, C. [8 q4 O
•Lack access to professional networks& ~7 v1 C" f b9 F3 W
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning
( h9 i% I' p6 c8 k+ }Time Commitment; c L" W, i: o9 L
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week." n) @% c8 t8 E8 X% [5 I
