SPECIAL EVENTS/VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR / m  C% w; O& o2 q6 ?
JOB DESCRIPTION

0 e" Z2 u7 W! I" `* B3 ?Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and in collaboration with CLSA Special   b0 u" m: |3 W4 Y6 Q
Events and Volunteer Committees, this position will be responsible to: + D( g1 N0 W( S7 Q

: E; }$ J/ b# X" n6 ?+ LDuties:  Special Events  
8 u$ b8 |* q9 f8 HPlan, implement and evaluate Special Events: , e5 Q1 k' w% _  N! O/ K7 Y
·  Select and develop themes in collaboration with the Committee 4 u* P8 P" e/ W% Y+ C# C' O+ T
·  Oversee event logistics: book entertainment, catering services and venue; assist
! c! S0 D9 O" _8 owith decorating; ensure tickets and invitations are available; assist with the ) e0 n/ a( J$ m4 w
advertising of events; recruit, place and supervise volunteers for events; ensure
- {4 V8 y) z4 h: N4 F6 nset-up and clean-up; monitor event budget and complete evaluation of events.   
+ d% @% a2 w' R& b, H+ _! I·  Attend and manage Special Events  . H* F0 G3 q$ Y$ y/ n3 |
·  Attend and take minutes for Special Events Committee ! Q3 U! p; l/ c6 t

7 ]! z" J. g" C: w" uDuties: Volunteer Coordination 5 s# ^+ v* K; V' u( |2 d3 \
Assist in developing and implementing a volunteer program:   D: ~, u0 K- v+ ~; ^1 F, l
·  Develop job descriptions for volunteer positions 4 Q6 K# ?- J+ n8 }, |! Y+ z2 z. Y
·  Recruit, interview, screen and place prospective volunteers
& x  I- {" h7 J0 `·  Provide initial orientation and training for new volunteers
" g; H* L. K- X4 H) S·  Ensure provision of recognition and evaluation of volunteers  " {2 m, K1 Q9 d5 r; |
·  Complete program administration, statistics and records 6 R% N) D3 f, s) J

) R( f; X$ M; j. t+ [Qualifications:
0 I1 R# h5 p2 A: B·  Completion of 12th
2 C2 x5 K& m9 x# j5 B( [ Grade and a minimum of a Diploma in Recreation 4 o6 _# l' i% Q" x" w+ r( w7 A
Administration, Volunteer Management or Special Event Planning or equivalent. & P* M6 j* G2 U
·  At least one year of experience in Recreation Administration and some direct
* T" y7 ~4 |% y3 Y/ Uexperience in conducting recreational, cultural or other related events
7 s8 V. v" v, l* v# ^6 l0 E·  Experience working with and managing volunteers 1 I9 ^) F0 Z& L& E! t7 r4 k
·  Specialized skills and training in working with seniors  
/ Q1 ~! s5 w9 q: n2 s" H·  Ability to instruct, organize and supervise group activities and special events
" }) w. |  Q2 r  t# Z. C& T9 ^·  Current Standard First Aid, CPR & AED training
' X- t1 |% g  v. I·  Security Clearance

$ y- I$ K& z. |9 V* I4 o- Y& _9 AHours:   Flexible – some evening and weekend work 1 a4 d$ M& I, H3 i7 I0 j- X
