Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and in collaboration with CLSA Special ! N8 K8 [/ ^& B! h/ Z4 U; P& G* Q
Events and Volunteer Committees, this position will be responsible to: : @5 O; N8 ^3 Z+ u3 w

Duties: Special Events 2 S8 O) r- ?* C6 }7 Q. C
Plan, implement and evaluate Special Events: 4 q. \( c- J% E6 D [6 x
· Select and develop themes in collaboration with the Committee / c) U$ s* ]7 h5 n' }; \! V7 R
· Oversee event logistics: book entertainment, catering services and venue; assist 9 b- R/ ~, X2 G4 b% x
with decorating; ensure tickets and invitations are available; assist with the ! c$ g4 Y5 F1 D: g1 I0 Z( Q
advertising of events; recruit, place and supervise volunteers for events; ensure + O5 d! ]1 H5 c* K
set-up and clean-up; monitor event budget and complete evaluation of events. # y" l6 b' q5 a2 C4 r% K/ s# @
· Attend and manage Special Events 9 C8 Y& P- Y/ Q4 f W7 E, f* k
· Attend and take minutes for Special Events Committee 8 H! @: F/ H) o Z8 ^5 k/ b! a x

Assist in developing and implementing a volunteer program: 3 r. i, B6 m3 m4 Q3 A5 p+ f4 \
· Develop job descriptions for volunteer positions
% } M7 M! p: f, y8 ~· Recruit, interview, screen and place prospective volunteers + ]- z- X4 G8 `. j* a: x
· Provide initial orientation and training for new volunteers
$ m& ~; @4 c2 ]6 x9 c7 y# P· Ensure provision of recognition and evaluation of volunteers N: \! |% c& n& q* j9 L# k
· Complete program administration, statistics and records 6 O# J9 z4 U4 v

Qualifications:
" c% j( N% \1 j# v& P; B· Completion of 12th
5 k6 s6 M. b# Z: Z Grade and a minimum of a Diploma in Recreation % l+ i) b0 Q4 J. ]! f3 P7 h) [
Administration, Volunteer Management or Special Event Planning or equivalent. " j: M8 @/ u {" E1 [
· At least one year of experience in Recreation Administration and some direct 0 I/ ]! E9 b" V$ B1 _$ |1 V
experience in conducting recreational, cultural or other related events
' W# Z$ s% M) B+ M X· Experience working with and managing volunteers - \0 M- ? \% M! y& T0 \# {* u
· Specialized skills and training in working with seniors
: Y4 c' u# @- K. ^' r' M· Ability to instruct, organize and supervise group activities and special events
# Q" k/ ~2 L9 O& A) z; ?0 `' M· Current Standard First Aid, CPR & AED training

Wages: $16 - $20/hour depending on qualifications
