Duties

& s' b. `" J; u * Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
' d5 ?3 }9 d, G- H * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr f* Y' r* \( ^
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps+ L' E o& K ^! \. |# w7 `3 T M" d
* Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations6 P. j& b' U$ o' g
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations0 b0 q) y- {1 B+ @# o
C# }$ _2 _+ GQualifications
7 ^ Q# F, t( f# @7 n6 c2 V" r/ B" P# U) y0 H0 Y
* Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred
# k; s- H. f- E0 H/ b2 ` * Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation
* s7 \$ }7 _& @% }! w/ d * Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers
. w+ V( q+ f4 y3 u+ ]% Q: c2 B * WHMIS training
! \4 j ?0 g; d8 z# i) @ * Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
