Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families.  Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

) a9 i' w& d: n- G1 V$ H* s7 DKey Responsibilities Include
2 q6 o8 O; g. ^4 NActivity Planning and Daily Activity
•        Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their  resilience, relationship building and leadership.
•        Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
•        Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer  and volleyball,
8 I$ a! G7 D5 q# B" y•        Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
6 q+ m% d& `0 Q•        Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
•        Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

1 A2 R/ _* z7 sThe successful candidate will have:
8 `4 G" d7 e! A9 E) T•        The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
•        Experience with children
•        Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
; i% T# N8 m  f: N; H6 D•        Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
•        Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
•        Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources

•        A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
