A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.

knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.' G- L0 u' o+ U |8 y0 a# a
The program includes the following elements:
& M7 L% v( k: H. Z) i• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)8 q- `, Y* W- D$ ]
• Standard Child Care First Aid2 y" y- B) X/ _2 h; z. n
• WHMIS
" R& r# f p- z9 U+ p• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
* r5 {& R; ]# b8 D- x• Components to improve communication skills
4 K/ G! N3 l8 c7 [• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
" _' z2 u# V& }; @$ X3 a& w• Practicum Placements
9 E; U( P- q7 I1 H6 {Eligibility Criteria4 J y' B$ d8 [4 k! j
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
* a1 S& M# t( ]3 {of Canada
4 I8 Y: d. N, H0 Z7 o) [, D8 C4 [6 B• have a Social Insurance Number. k5 Z( Y" U' _' A1 g8 h, L; F
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check% f1 h1 O; q4 m; T" z9 b- y% `: U
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent% k4 g3 k1 O/ G" ?
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time, l1 R& K3 o. Q7 x
program h/ @$ J8 x3 X7 |0 c+ V
Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet4 s- Y% E7 q9 N$ o/ H
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:6 F2 h7 x& G* B. H/ }
• be unemployed or underemployed.
' p1 r' |7 J2 L6 }3 a- FThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course* U6 J6 o6 ]2 e* a4 p* X
• meet the financial eligibility criteria
