A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.
& S: z K& w; a! i$ bThis program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
& B% R' @, M6 R7 t1 B8 ]knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.' G3 J8 y3 W& `* k. @+ Q
The program includes the following elements:
3 B& p- T7 _) Z( V8 k4 z5 b8 C8 y+ {• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)& B: s) u4 y$ j. B; F/ ~) y5 v
• Standard Child Care First Aid
- z1 |6 J4 e, ]- S3 V2 z• WHMIS G5 i0 O+ b& ^' V
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care; W# ]' v9 M8 o( u" C$ e
• Components to improve communication skills2 D& E+ i7 o, `# E- p
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
- Q" T- R8 X0 u6 h/ }• Practicum Placements7 d0 _! X4 q2 `/ b5 C! ?& U3 ]# o( _
Eligibility Criteria
# Y* L! F, F, `+ I4 \• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
9 O# I" V0 Q! V8 ?, Q% J) ~of Canada2 L: O' V! X) s1 W
• have a Social Insurance Number+ u% Z$ Z1 H. J$ ]
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
- g! S" A7 J, ?% } z: a• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
5 p' {, |% V+ w, W' }• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time: J, B4 m) ^4 R! k8 I! ~; B
program
4 m1 K0 Z. s2 L' N4 L$ n& CParticipants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
1 `! D, R& F% x8 @the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
0 Q" J' x1 J, W. t8 T• be unemployed or underemployed.
9 _* b* N& k* i( x- v% @7 pThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course
7 O7 Y1 a& U" B1 k" {0 C y9 Z• meet the financial eligibility criteria
