租的人给参谋参谋，情况是这样的：

1. 想到美国租车，而租车不是直接从租车公司租，而是通过expdia, hotwire, or priceline租，或者买一个旅游的package包括租车，这样就有个问题了，我的白金卡包括车身保险，但是不是直接从租车公司买的行吗？下面是网上一个人的答复，但是不太确定，问问过来人。

2. 如果到美国租车，如果自己有保险，信用卡cover租车的车身保险，对于自己车身的damage, 是primary还是secondary的？我google的答案是，如果是美国人，是secondary的，如果其它国家的人是primary的。

% E+ w5 X' D( b/ f" tRenting a car through Hotwire is no different than renting directly from the car rental company, as far as insurance is concerned (unless your direct booking uses a specific negotiated rate that explicitly includes insurance).

Loss of or damage to the rental vehicle: no coverage is provided. Your options:

% e" q4 h: r, z! B  @2 H    * Purchase a waiver from the car rental company; or
    * If you have your own car insurance in the U.S., it will probably cover the rental car. Check your policy; or
8 b# P/ T  G5 f$ s8 Y    * Your credit card probably covers loss/damage to rental cars. There are limitations and stipulations, so check your credit card agreement. This coverage is secondary to your own car insurance if you have one. Outside the U.S. it is primary (but some countries are excluded).

Liability: In some states, state law requires the car rental company to provide a state-specific minimum liability coverage. In other states, they are not required to and provide no coverage. Your own car insurance will probably cover you. Otherwise you will need to purchase coverage from the car rental company.

8 N7 B# z5 w* r+ E. y# }5 `8 yIf you're using coverage from your own car's insurance, and there are additional drivers using the rental car, then those drivers' respective policies must cover them. Your own policy's coverage does not extend to others driving your rental car (unless these people are Named Insureds on your own car insurance policy, such as your spouse).

For people who do not own a car and have no insurance, but rent a car at least 15 days a year, I recommend what I do:

% M7 R4 ^& }3 p0 s: m2 O# H# o    * Loss/damage to the rental car: use a credit card that provides coverage. Visa/MC usually cover rentals of up to 15 days, Amex up to 30 days (these vary, so check your CC agreement). Since you don't have your own car insurance, this coverage becomes primary.
    * Liability: get a "Non Owner" car insurance policy from AAA. I pay $175 a year for this policy that covers me whenever I drive a vehicle that I do not own, up to $500,000.

我们去年去福罗里达的时候是租车一周，在机场取机场还，为了省心，买了全保。
我们信用卡也有些COVERAGE,但没时间去打电话询问研究了。

全保好像很贵吧？一天20多，我有自己的保险就不用了。

我们的情况：网上租好车，到机场去取。VISA COVER INSURANCE。没有再付其它的保险费了。

打电话问了一下自己的保险公司，结果大吃一惊，以前犯了很多错误自己还不知道，现在把问题归纳如下，申请加精：

1. 虽然我的全保，居然不cover租车保险以及别人借车的保险，最后要求加上，全年60快，cover 加拿大和美国的租车保险，包括damage和第三保，并且cover修车时的租车损失，已经修车时的租酒店损失。所以是要租车的人一定要到自己保险公司问清楚，不然出了事发现没有保险就惨了。

2. 用白金或者黄金卡租车，只是cover了本车的lost and damage, 并不包括第三保，第三保要找租车公司买或者用自己的保险cover。

3. rental car的coverage是有范围的，不包括commercial的租车，u-haul被认为是commercial rental，保险公司不cover.

4 o' V0 C  e  l6 H; h4. 自己把车借个别人，出了事，由本车保险cover. 借别人的车开，又别人的保险cover, 自己的保险不cover.....所以说不要借车给别人，也不要借别人的车。

5. 用白金或者黄金卡租车, 如果出了事，信用卡公司可以cover 保险公司deductable的那部分，所以说还是有用的。

信用卡保的租车范围有很多限制，一定要看清楚。除了楼上说的，还有就是不保大型车和豪华车。具体多大算大，多好算豪华，他们都有很具地的规定。
