The Alberta government, already suffering from declining oil revenue, is now facing a dip in tobacco revenue.

$ @3 J* w6 X& B5 h. fFigures from the quarterly fiscal update show a six percent drop sucking away $50 million dollars from initial budget projections.

Angeline Webb, a Cancer Control Analyst for the Canadian Cancer Society, says "it appears that the Tobacco Reduction Act is having the desired effect."

Meanwhile the final phase of the Act goes into effect on January 1st.
