* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
# F( ]0 i6 y' i3 x7 J Q, L' I/ q5 A * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
) e+ O, ]' M9 ^4 @ * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators4 c! x* U' f6 S- j4 z+ M
* Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations3 n( C- o" S; n8 P, H" D1 ~
* Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
% a. I9 Q$ W; y: i * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
# @/ h$ f2 F6 h4 V7 F$ m& i/ A * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth

* Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports5 B& _* u$ R% z" d" L P3 [! N
* Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs' H! @% i" g% y8 }5 `
* Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly

* Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

+ D: b+ a) c* q, |4 J# l * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
/ b2 u6 D% P! w: l) ^; L& O+ g0 R * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
% n5 b- Z& a3 Z# h' _2 U7 d2 ~ * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies. ` i' Z I, V. W1 l3 A) j9 K
* Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
- q e. K1 J2 H) o * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community0 N6 Y8 b# Q& i$ M) v# h* p1 |
* Fundraising skills an asset' J4 x& Q3 W0 u0 i) \
* Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills! [) k" {4 A0 W4 u, N+ n+ i, G
* Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills$ L. I4 g+ g% V8 j' c
* Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
; g8 M( t( P# q( t2 j' H * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
! S8 ^! n; x1 M) |" D3 m * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
