- H" {4 \" Z: u8 _! R: h    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
& i6 }  K2 G' @# a    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
+ |" R7 _) I: m$ X, |1 w0 ?    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
4 Z& s7 k+ o* D& R% E    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
* W) \6 u# a+ b- B0 [6 R' O: T    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
" w$ k$ p3 z& t, E  z& h    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
, `; o, O/ s8 |$ m# k- \1 U    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
- c" o" K1 [' j* ?( ]* l    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
& G7 c1 v2 X$ R9 U    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
0 \% b8 w. k) U$ Y0 X* E1 n    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
) _2 h8 }) V% B- u) g" p, |    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
# z. E2 I5 ^+ p7 N0 u$ C! G4 }    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset
% x5 j, Y' ^  b) d4 x$ P    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
