) f8 D( v- k5 ^0 o2 c( m5 f% T * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
9 P+ z7 o2 |* |4 s$ [6 s U" e/ F3 O * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography/ f) w7 F. Z |
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques5 J( d7 }( g& ?8 i6 C
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client! X x) {1 ?* h3 t
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry; \$ l. K% x1 s4 Z6 Z
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals- p2 |) c6 v* E
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
* E' T" b% ~+ n; S' o. W * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
7 ^! S* S2 R" ` w0 v2 z( a9 @% D * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications1 _( {, }) G/ f; D' y/ ~' b6 U

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
) e. n5 _; [9 g# M7 A * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
2 m" b+ h! W/ ?& L% [ * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
$ }& h ^1 \+ \5 u2 ?: T7 S& x: ~ * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
