Duties
) e9 H! ]. y# b3 A7 a/ v7 B
) V3 k* W6 g- U) j * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis6 @' k. D; t6 V8 l; v4 ^# m$ u
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography. `& Q" Q' n/ E) q
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques# w; u1 ]3 `0 F1 k" b
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
" j# S5 }4 k e, V [8 V3 x * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry9 G* \! j6 E' `9 S+ j+ x! O& D
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
! K/ P8 O+ ?4 z# y! ` * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
& c) ?& w6 A% t5 ], D9 S* l @ * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices o z2 J2 l- t: j/ q$ \+ }
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

7 _% Y f- D' ` * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
( Y" }% W/ U0 S1 s* q2 O) { * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab): H' I1 m K# N8 t1 g
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
8 J2 J: m! G: t4 L7 E/ q* Z1 c; } * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures! B# i3 `% }# w: i! q7 l) s* d& M
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment: t; ^+ e6 W8 A) e. r7 X) B
