Duties
- t/ P& @( ?# Q f' \/ K* u o. m6 W3 t6 O
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
S6 y! {/ d1 L- M# N3 y * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
+ y5 f# }. \6 A * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
' j# [9 x) L5 v6 ]2 s2 W4 R' y * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
$ E% C9 ?7 S* N' D6 X4 h+ ~5 a * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
$ |/ y h6 W8 M5 f * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
* J& N( ?. C. o5 r$ m' n7 a( x * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab1 m! q+ ~" O. Z- Q* k4 \, o, q) A/ ~
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices. d, _- L) K, v: V* e& A
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS) M# ^ e/ d$ Y0 D8 M9 t! F) Q T, H

Qualifications
, U7 q) U! @) D9 t+ I4 g: |1 u9 d e7 M
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
& ?7 { u' p+ x9 U: m * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab). r( T. w3 S1 n
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
" n! M) F) `5 n) V4 | * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures/ B } v2 H, z: M/ ?+ v% {0 r" D
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment( I+ x. h6 w8 N9 R- N
