Duties

    * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
- w: \6 P1 P$ \0 p7 k7 p" k    * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
6 l$ F: J3 D+ a9 H    * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
    * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
    * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
  b+ ]" q! p" S6 R; r' q    * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
    * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
; ~/ ]' c. c0 x+ o    * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
1 m+ _8 R6 P9 T/ S2 L+ y    * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications

    * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
    * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
    * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
0 j7 ~9 L+ g6 ]2 n+ U* }    * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
4 |% r  G" e. x; H9 n* Q: M7 o    * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
