JERUSALEM - Israel is sending disaster relief to China.% z/ S1 X3 V! s

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arye Mekel says a plane is on the way to southern China carrying clothing, medical supplies, generators and tents for victims of the May 12 earthquake.

Mekel estimated the shipment was worth US$1.5 million and said it was due to arrive in China later today.1 e, x# X4 s2 v. }( ~

The earthquake has left at least 62,664 people dead and an estimated five million homeless.
