Normie Kwong, a legendary football fullback nicknamed the "China Clipper" after he became the first Chinese-Canadian in the CFL, has been named Alberta's new lieutenant-governor.

% \6 Y; N4 F2 {7 r5 @- k/ ZKwong may have been the only Asian in North American professional sports when he joined the Canadian Football League in 1948 at age 18.

$ s6 _, F" l" Q4 e; U% CKwong won his first Grey Cup with the Calgary Stampeders, then joined the Edmonton Eskimos and helped them win three championships in a row.

2 v6 e2 c0 V+ N2 }  @9 bThe Edmonton Eskimos won six Grey Cup championships during Normie's time with the team. He, himself, was All Canadian Fullback five times; a two-time Schenley Award winner, Most Outstanding Canadian in 1955 and 1956 and Canadian Athlete of the Year in 1955.
