Position title: Community Development Worker

: u& u8 o8 h: `7 ^Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 6 f/ P! V) ]1 J" r

R& ~# F) c( z9 k; A, _& D- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
- l3 w& a, s5 M8 Y& m- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services: G9 T) D; l9 p8 n# X. V5 C. o
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services |6 _: ]: c. ~5 X4 m
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies+ k/ {; ~" |' ^! K" H
- coordinate good will activities
+ [% K# Q: B" _4 }+ T- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members5 G$ K7 d& }9 q! W; a' _$ \6 `. ?; h
- submit information for community news
) ^: K- O8 T V9 ?4 _- prepare and send AGM information to members

- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
# ?( d) D* t2 {8 ?- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team0 a$ p% E5 C1 w% d9 Z# ^" X
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time ] H: N2 A1 E+ m0 z$ w l
- update membership database
& S2 j1 G- ]# c% _6 K- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications
8 g0 U/ ^: X& m- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education # B* C7 [* S$ r# m* t" Q
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
3 w: W% P7 Q5 S% H- O/ i- experience in community work and immigrant services1 p! r, U3 |2 x, a( R8 e
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
4 d) m: ]% u$ k- w$ T- leadership skills- n/ @2 y6 V u$ Q, I
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
