* q9 D7 z; a/ H1 UAfter I settled down in Edmonton, I celebrated Canada Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween and Remembrance Day. All of them arevery interesting to me, but I have to say that the most enjoyable holiday is Halloween." Q' g5 G& _3 n9 Z
My teacher told me I should prepare candies, and many children would come to my home and ask for them. So, I bought many candies from Zellers and Safeway. When I got back home with the candies, my wife told me that there were not enough, so I went to Safeway again and bought more.
) h# h5 j) h0 W1 r4 m& m& SMy child was shy and didn’t speak much English, so I taught her how to shout “Trick or Treat”. After two days of training, she is perfect at shouting “Trick or Treat” . " k+ \. C: h* ~
October 31st is Halloween. I got up very early that day. My wife prepared chicken which I was going to bring to class for a potluck. My child was very happy because she had already been waitingfor this day for a long time.
5 A( D% V* b) a8 gIn the afternoon, we had a potluck in the class. Yuong Sook, a Korean girl, made some sushi which looked very beautiful. Chun Yuan, a Chinese girl, cooked some bouilli which tasted very delicious. Of course my wife cooked the best food because they were all cleared off all gone.
4 n% ^1 [ \3 d! F& n6 ^7 BAfter lunch, we had a party in the student center. Many students put make up on their faces and wore some strange clothingcostume. They were singing and dancing there. What a happy day!( J1 V" L: C% h {
When we gothome, it turned dark. My child said, “Dad, may I go out and ask for candies?”5 ?& [. b, `. B+ u8 V
“Yes. Why not?” I said.
; b) M; L6 }+ d: l6 C6 v! dMy child went out with a bag. I stayed at homewith my wife, waiting for neighbours' kids. To my surprise, only three children came to my home, and I was left with many unclaimedcandies. And, one hour later, my child came back with a full bag. “Dad,” She said, “My bag is full. I have many candies now. What an interesting day!”+ f! Z/ K2 l, |( f0 U+ H5 W2 t
“You are right, my child.” I said, “Halloween is the most interesting holiday in Canada, I think.”* N. e! U8 [/ I, L( |
