venues within the realm of the Students´ Union. In the light of that & i0 `' F, V/ F, x }1 ~

a. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that
' {% L2 N) e% o5 ifocuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty,

This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:3 M4 v/ P: b* J, _5 `; j7 h
· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz $ H7 i" a- b8 H: P+ N' T, a) q$ o
Theatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to - |3 `% }% z7 ?3 c3 L0 v8 |
take advantage of other internal and external advertising
, f& p% S- x; T4 eopportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional
# k( R4 N ?5 j2 e; Z @literature on an ongoing basis.

use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.7 d$ m6 {7 R( U, O) Q+ Z; D
· To develop new external clients for the venues.1 I2 O; D* f0 V1 w

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities
; w- o$ P8 \2 m$ Z: a' s- e- F4 o+ G# e9 c
a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost-
4 o: ]* ~1 Z* C: k8 @effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the & S4 l) Z& Q& @5 m) ]6 i5 q* V
venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and
3 }- ^8 N( m6 w- s0 a1 L7 \contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of
k! c4 J5 i4 |3 {) Gthe renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited
. m5 R0 i- M4 V6 gto, the following:
! i7 x, }& g; @# w1 v1 c2 H, V2 g· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues $ S' X! N% {+ M8 S+ H- A2 R
and Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining,
- b" A! R7 s0 q+ qevaluating and terminating, as necessary.9 p5 G1 a1 v @! C! m# _3 C
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at
& S. K4 a! l% K ^% _% h. u5 J& Call times, this includes the development and implementation of such 5 ^5 Y5 m/ }+ C# Z
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and ! W) M! ^6 Y# b# e6 ]0 w
cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it
+ ~. T8 R+ K' `3 Mis in operation or needs to be in operation.
! h& ^7 [/ p/ c0 T· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure * d9 j$ |' I& d. G4 u8 O# R
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to + }6 |/ [4 M0 z2 C z, a! A. \
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all 7 e& _! p" c; b* E0 h X" f; J
renters needs are met./ R7 o* s9 R/ r0 }. I( c
· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
* r% Z2 q7 t1 eand attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of ) |% q2 B* Q& J. y( A
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and ( X$ G4 c4 s9 u0 ~
effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
# J; {# P5 G9 L0 u. Eappropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual

· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing

scheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance

· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure $ t+ Y$ d8 x0 a
the appropriate setup/tear down of each venue.

4. Overall Financial Performance

To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate n: V9 S+ W% W' O" ]! k
operating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of
% ~3 s8 r x- y1 t! AProgramming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets

Administration prior to their submission for final approval.
8 Q1 j% Y0 |/ D& x· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively

· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and

Administration with a view to determining and implementing action

setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for

and administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects

may be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this

pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing,

to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and

· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures

· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and 6 L" t; @ W1 h, S" x; ]- ~+ f N) J
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.

· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and 5 C0 G( b5 r9 J; Y" i/ P
supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the
* @( f2 a9 u8 Broles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.
: H5 P0 G3 ~5 f" D9 V· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular $ u W: i7 o2 ?: {/ x- B
rental with consultation with the Technical Director.
5 S2 m( X/ v- `: R* A& A; _· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the 2 z( u" W2 L2 w2 ~
SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately . t: y+ h& T, F( f9 f# ]) m
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in 3 F: N7 E& Y2 X% N. Z
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.
/ Z( Q0 D( E6 J1 V8 z To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, + n/ T/ y" z+ J, z8 B( x6 e
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that
6 H5 \& d1 e, l) W% ~: ^+ M- ethe cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision + B) K7 F, } E' G$ f) o
made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of 8 G& T. [( L- F1 t& @9 M

· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of

may provide such challenges and/or problems.

· To perform other job-related duties as may be required by the

secure operation of the venues.
